One way to enhance the passenger experience is to offer them control over the music during their ride. Here’s a simple guide to setting up a dedicated music tablet in your backseat:

What You’ll Need:

  • A tablet (any model with Wi-Fi capability or a mobile plan will work)
  • A tablet mount or holder for the backseat
  • The Spotify app installed on the tablet
  • A Spotify Premium account (for uninterrupted playback)
  • Your smartphone with the Spotify app installed
  • Your car’s Bluetooth audio system

Steps:

  1. Mount the Tablet: Securely mount the tablet to the back of a headrest or another suitable location in the backseat where it’s easily accessible to passengers.

  2. Install and Log in to Spotify: Download the Spotify app from the app store on the tablet and log in using your Spotify Premium account.

  3. Connect Tablet to Car Audio:

    • Method 1: Spotify Connect: Let the tablet in the back control the listening through your phone.
      • Connect Phone to Car Audio: Pair your smartphone to your car’s Bluetooth audio system. Make sure your phone is the primary audio source.
      • Use Spotify Connect: Open the Spotify app on both the tablet and your phone. On the tablet, start playing a song. Then, on your phone, tap the “Devices Available” icon at the bottom of the Now Playing screen. Select the tablet from the list of available devices.Now, the music playing on the tablet will be streamed through your car’s audio system. Passengers can control the music selection from the tablet without affecting your phone.
    • Method 2: Bluetooth: Pair the tablet to your car’s Bluetooth audio system. This is usually done through your car’s infotainment system settings.
    • Method 3: Auxiliary Cable: If your car doesn’t have Bluetooth, you can use an auxiliary cable to connect the tablet’s headphone jack to your car’s auxiliary input.

Method 1 allows you to take back control of the music from your phone when the passengers leave. Methods 2 and 3 will require you to change your source to give control or take back control.
